Are the traditional gender roles still in place here?

As mentioned elsewhere on the tumblr:

Women are considered equal in status to men. They can inherit titles, own their own property, etc. However, men and women are still regarded as “different.” Men are considered warriors and protectors while women are supposed to be more family-oriented. So, yeah, it’s a bit better off than in Westeros or medieval times (read: whoever is firstborn will inherit regardless of sex), but there’s still that element of behavioral expectation (not that everyone follows it, of course).

Guys, I’d appreciate it if you have any questions to please look at older questions and look through the numerous previews I’ve already posted. While I really do appreciate the interest, the staff are working hard on apps and finishing everything on the site, and repeated questions aren’t helping much.

Will we need to make our account and then reserve, or will resevations be allowed as "guests?" Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've never been on jcink |D

You can make your reservation as a guest, yeah.

all these characters in the hierarchy, can we make spies and scholars etc?

I guess this is a good time to explain what you can/can’t make at the beginning of the site. Yes, you can make a character who is from any part of the hierarchy, but if you want a character who is directly related to the high noble families (royalty, region keepers, and province keepers), you have to take a character from the canon list. That said, highborn nobles can obviously be scholars or kingsguard or whatever, it doesn’t have to be an original character. Right now we aren’t accepting characters from minor houses unless they’re on the canon list (they’re there due to marriage ties).

Now that I have my wits back, question! Will we be able to reserve more than one character? Or will we have to complete an application before reserving another?

Reserve Rules

Reserves last for three days and only one reserve is permitted per person at a time. Re-reserves are allowed, but if you reserve multiple times without making progress, your reserve will be deleted.

I DIED WHEN I SAW THAT LIST SO MANY CHOICES. Question- will all the houses/characters have the kind of information listed under the Danes, or is that only for the royal family?

Royal family only! For the other houses, you can do what you want as long as you take the house description into account (speaking of which, a few of those are probably going to get tweaked in light of the finished canons).

Do we start reserving only once the site has opened?

Yes.

I was wondering if there'd be any kind of group similar in nature to the Dothraki. I know the west is more culturally diverse, and I think of them being kind of similar to the Free Cities, but would a Dothraki-esque group, if they exist on your site, be included in the west?

See here. While there are probably still various wandering tribes in Avelon (not just in the West), there wouldn’t be much point in playing them since they’d be very detached from everything else.

who are you going to play?

Let’s just say it’s harder when you know what’s on the canon list )8 But I’ll post if/when I decide!
